Graduate studies in the UK.

Hi, I'm sure there are a million messages like this, but I thought I'd give this a go and see if anyone knew anything about my topic. I'm a recent American college graduate about to ship off to Bahrain to teach for a year. After that, I'd like to go to the UK to complete a M Phil in English or Irish literature. Has anyone on here from America went to a graduate school in the UK? The only thing putting me off is the cost. Tuition prices are similar, but in the US I know there are several uni's where I could get a full ride or at least be able to teach some undergraduate level courses to pay the bills. Did they offer you any aid? How did the process work? Any info would be fantastic, thanks. I'd also be interested in Ireland as well.

How long is the program? Some Americans go to the UK just for the fact that a one year master’s programme costs less than 2 years of master’s in the US.

You say you went to an American college but are you an American citizen too (you can’t be from the UK for these scholarships)? I don’t know how competitive your application is - but you could always try for a Marshall [Home or The Rhodes Scholarships](http://www.marshallscholarship.org/) or similar scholarships - INSANELY competitive and for anyone a huge long shot but maybe worth looking into.
