Graduated Five Years Ago, can I go straight to a University? Completely Clueless and in need of Help

I graduated high school in 2014 satisfying the a-g requirements. I have been out of school since then due to health issues. Now that I am better, I want to pursue my dream of earning degree. Would I be able to apply and get accepted to a university? I applied to a community college and was going to start this spring, but it hit me. Why am I going to a CC if I went through college meeting the “a-g” requirements with flying colors. Why would I take the transfer route where I would have to take some of the same classes I already took? Should I not attend the CC and shift gears to studying for the SAT (I’ve never taken it)? What are the other requirements to attend a university? I am fine with going to a CSU. The classes were not AP, but I still got As in them.

Different schools have different requirements. But some schools (like UNC Chapel Hill) do not require standardized test scores if you apply as a junior.

Also, CC is about 10x cheaper.

Yes, you can apply to 4 year schools now but after 5 years off you might want to “ramp up” beforehand. You might be rusty on study skills, test taking skills etc. I would take a sample SAT and see how you do. If you are happy with the result, take the actual test in preparation for applying for Universities as a freshman. While you are applying, get an online free class (credit or non) and start working as a student again. That will tell you how heavy a courseload you can handle first semester. CSU’s don not admit holistically so only CSU capped weighted GPA and test scores will determine your admission chances.

Once you establish your CSU GPA, plug that information into the eligibility index calculation.

CSU’s admit by EI and major.

Intended major?

I agree with the above poster that if you plan to apply to a 4 year college, definitely brush up on your study skills along with Math concepts and writing skills.
