<p>Hi,</p>

<pre><code>Even though one of my siblings is now a dependent, we did partly fund her college tuition. Even though its not as much as a private university because she went to a community college and then to a city college, do colleges take this into consideration? I don't know how to tell them about this since she is a dependent now and I'm not supposed to count her as part of our household.

<p>If your sibling is still an undergrad student then the fact that your parents are still paying for their education is taken into consideration when you apply for financial aid. However, if your sibling has finished their first bachelors (or is going to graduate, professional school) then your parents paying for college is not taken into consideration for your financial aid.</p>
