By bling I mean trophies, plaques, awards, etc.

Over the years I've accumulated quite a few trophies and plaques of the i Student of the Year, Xth Place at Math Competition, Yth Place at Science Fair* variety. Some of the math team awards are quite large (2-3 feet tall).

In the fall when I go to MIT it's like I'm really moving out; my little brother is going to be moving out of a shared room into mine and he doesn't want all my stuff cluttering his room. I don't want to take them to college... that would be ridiculous. And the parents won't let me just throw them away.

So I guess I'm going to be packing them into boxes and lugging them to the attic. (Unless people here have a better idea). I'm not looking forward to it since they are irregularly shaped, somewhat fragile, and I don't know where I'm going to get boxes the right size. At the U-Haul I visited, the box sizes jumped from "Large Box" that is about 2 feet tall (not quite tall enough) to the Wardrobe Size, which is way too big.

I know a lot of the people at CC are far more accomplished than I am and probably have an even bigger problem with this. Any tips or suggestions?

ha, i won't have any trophies or anything like that. i have 2 small theatre awards, that's it...

i would box them up and put them in the attic??

Melt them into a single trophy-mass for easier storage.

I wish I had some bling...I feel worthless :/ All I have is sarcasm.

Cover them with peanut butter and stick raisins and cheerios to them and hang them from trees like birdfeeders

grins

If you have older relatives that might like something sparkley to light up his or her nursing home room, you could give the trophies and things to them.

You could also talk to your school and see if they have a trophy case or display case that needs a few trophies to fill up the end of a row or something. That'd probably just be temporary, and it wouldn't work for awards you got from your school, but for some of the math competitions and stuff.

Take off the metal part that has your name in it, flip it over, scratch your friends name in with a nail, glue them back down, and give them to your friends as goodbye presents. grins You could do the same thing for mother's day or birthdays or something.

Worst comes to worst... give them to little cousins and neighborhood kids. Little kids love trophies.

i threw all the minor stuff away(track ribbons and little stuff like that) and I gave all the major stuff like trophies, plaques, certificates, etc. to the grandma.(its the least i can do considering she and my grandpa are getting me a brand new car)

i'm leaving mine where they are.. (wall of room) .. if your brother needs space.. just pack them up in a box like you were going to do. you won't miss them =p

My mom only frames my failures and doesn't put any bling up. I guess it's supposed to motivate me?

We keep those in our study, all the trophies and awards from both my brother and I. So I don't really have to worry about that problem. Ask your parents if there is a place in the house where you can store them.
