Graduating and Switching to EDU

I'll try to keep this short - I am currently an Art History major (3.5 GPA) and will be graduating with my BA in December of 2013.

My original plans were to attend graduate school, but I bombed the GRE (960 old score). I understand being an Art History major isn't going to land me the best jobs unless I have a Master's degree or above.

Recently, I have been really wanting to continue my education and get an Elementary Education degree (I've always wanted to be an elementary school teacher - I just never went for it).

If I graduate in this December, I CAN "go back" to school and work on getting a second degree in Elementary education, right? It would be like me just going back for a second Bachelors. I really would like to start right back in school the Jan. after I graduate.

Is it possible to go right back into school for a different BA literally a month after you graduate?

Thanks.
Frankie

As long as you’ve graduated, no reason why you couldn’t theoretically start the next day.

Depending on the state you live in/ want to work, look at the education department website on the state website. A second degree isn’t the only route for a graduate.
In Illinois, for example, prospective elementary school teachers can do a second undergraduate degree as you’re considering. But you could also do a masters to get that same certification. Some states also offer the option of learning on the job. See what would prepare you best in your own circumstances.
