Just came from registering my son for his senior year, where the option to graduate in December was given. A little background:

He has a 91 average. Probably top 20%, but rankings have not been given out yet. Took the SAT once, scored 1790 with no preparation. Will take it again next chance. He has 6 hrs of Dual Credit classes (Psych and Speech). He took two AP courses last year, English and History and scored 4s on both. Very few extra EC, JV Bball and a little community service.

He wants to go to University of Texas or A&M. Both competitive I know.

Would it be better for him to finish out Senior year, take AP English, DC Govt and Economics and his other required courses, a math and science I think, or

Take regular English, graduate in December, enroll in CC here in town for a semester and apply to both schools as transfer student? I'm confident he would do well in his CC classes.

I'm just wondering if the second option would increase his chances at getting admitted to one of these schools in the Fall, or if staying for the whole year and taking AP English would look better in their eyes.
