Hi guys,
I know the conventional wisdom is to stay in high school through senior year if one is interested in applying to extremely selective colleges. I skipped ahead in math and science classes and now my school is basically not offering me any classes to take. I did my research and they are okay with me leaving for half the day to attend college at a local university but I have to pay for it myself. This is a lot of money and not financially feasible. My college counselor seems pretty nice and would be willing to attest to the fact that I have ran out of options but is adamant that the school can’t do much to fix this. My question is, if my ultimate goal is to get into a very selective school should I be applying this year or next? And if next, do I graduate early and do something else for one year? And if so what would that be?
Or, do I spend the next few months putting together a way to pay for the college tuition at the local that I can’t pay for which I guess would also be impressive? This is just frustrating because its not like those college credits would transfer.
Can I apply this cycle and next cycle if I don’t get in (and then decide to stay in high school based on my decision) or would that look bad? And if I apply this cycle can I offer to take a gap year so that adcom won’t be worried about my maturity or lack thereof in advance?
Please help!!
