<p>Finding a job is definitely important, but maybe those that you talk to have different values. To some, traveling the world and exploring, even if that is with only a backpack, is more important than finding a job right away. It’s good to see different perspectives and decide!</p>

<p>Some of the Ivy League schools may not be preferred places for engineering recruiters to recruit at, because one or both may apply: (a) too small (relative to the big state universities), (b) the assumption that the investment banks will take most of the engineering graduates.</p>
<p>Are there fields that reward lack of ambition, given one is qualified for jobs in that field? Perhaps the OP’s field rewards lack of ambition…</p>
