Help! I plan to graduate Spring 09 from UCLA arts&letters. Do I have to file any papers, pay any fees, other than entering the correct quarter on URSA? Does anyone need to sign off any forms for me, and do I have to file them? I would like to avoid going to a graduation workshop, if possible. Too busy!!

Thanks for any info.

As I recall, there isn’t a graduation workshop. As long as you have the correct quarter listed on URSA your fine. In the spring, you’ll need to keep on eye on MyUCLA for important graduation announcements if you plan to attend any of the ceremonies (i.e. how to register for certain ceremonies, when you can buy caps/gowns/tassels/etc, where to pick up tickets, buy parking passes and etc.) But, for now, don’t worry about it. Enjoy your last few quarters. They go by quickly.

So I filled out the ursa graduation intended spring 09, and that’s all I have to do? seems weird - my friends at other schools need to submit papers, get signatures etc. I’m just going by the DPR which doesn’t specifically say “units needed” anywhere…and my units + AP credits are over 180. Seems weird that no one has to say “good to go!”

if you were missing anything, you would be sent a letter from the registrar saying what you need to complete. but, yeah… as long as your intended graduation date is correct on URSA you’re “good to go.” But, I agree it’s a bit disheartening that there wasn’t anything more.

Yeah. It doesn’t seem so official. It’s like… that’s it? I mean, what about the people that declared this term but didn’t actually finish?

Well, it’s nice that it’s not much of a hassle.

seems alarmingly simple…

you sound good to go, it’s fairly easy to graduate from LS. Just make sure you declare the right quarter before you complete XXX units. If it turns out you miss that quarter for graduation, you pay a fee and re-declare for the correct quarter.

You can always meet with a counselor to go over your DPR to see if there are any requirements you’ve missed. Shouldn’t the DPR list what requirements you have fulfilled in terms of units required/units completed? Just double check that against what your major requirements to make sure you’ve got all your classes.

congrats!
