Graduating Undergrad in 3 Years

Has anyone here completed/planned to complete undergrad in 3 years?

I'm currently a high school senior contemplating on the idea. I have two AP credits currently and hope to pass 3 more this may. And take two classes over the summer to fulfill my freshmen year requirements.

Has anyone had any problems doing this? I plan on pursuing a graduate degree as well. I'm mostly doing this to save money, as law school is also an option.

Tips? Advice? Comments?

I considered graduating a year early but then decided against it. The extra year gives me more time to prepare for graduate school: I can take graduate-level courses, do research, and develop closer relationships to my professors (letters of recommendation!). Luckily money is not an issue for me.

If money is an issue, graduating early might make a lot of sense, especially if you want to go to law school (which is totally unrelated to your undergraduate major and really really expensive).

Do you know if graduating in 3 years is academically feasible? For example, can you satisfy all of the requirements for your major in 3 years? Some science majors entail long sequences of prerequisites, which might require 4 years or major-specific summer classes. At a few universities classes are so overcrowded that students get shut out of classes and may need to postpone a class or two for a semester or year. That might be detrimental if you don’t have much wiggle room to begin with.

Long story short, it is hard to give you a general answer. I recommend that you discuss your options with an academic adviser before you register for classes.

There isn’t really any point of graduating College early unless you have financial concerns.

It has basically turned into four years in which you do absolutely nothing and are surrounded by a bunch of other people who do absolutely nothing productive all day.

So yeah, College is a waste of time.
