Graduating with an Economics Degree, Need help

Hi CC community,

I will be graduating in June with a BS in economics, and I'm not quite sure what career paths will be best for me. I've done some independent research and found that employment opportunities are mostly in the financial sector (analyst, consultant, etc). I'm not opposed to working in finance (almost chose finance as my major), but I am confused at what positions I should be looking for. One of my biggest mistakes was not getting an internship during the summers although I do have work experience. Are there any economic undergrads here that help perhaps guide me to some careers that I can focus on?

Thank you

You’re not limited to just mostly financial positions as an economics major. Depending on what classes you’ve taken, what your interests are, and where you live, you could get into development economics work, foreign affairs, environmental/public policy, oil and gas, renewable energy, litigation consulting (which lots of economic consulting firms do), management consulting, healthcare, analytics, and more.
