Graduating with "Honors" Questions

Hi!

I have some questions about graduating with honor.

If you graduate from a junior/community college or University with honor or honors, what does that say about you? Does it give you an edge in getting a job or internships? Does it give you an edge when applying to a graduate program or a BS program if you graduate from a CC with honors?

What is the different between graduating with honors and going into a honors college? What's the difference in what's going to be on your degree or something?

Thank you!

1) I don’t think it matters all that much. I mean, sure it looks impressive that you graduated with honors from Harvard. But no it will not give you an edge to simply say you graduated with honors when applying to a graduate program or a BS program if you get honors at a community college. I don’t think it will give you anything. Your GPA will probably get you something, though.

2) Not sure. I took a bunch of honors classes and you could finish that up to enroll in the honors college at whatever institution. Graduating with honors though just means that you had a certain GPA. For instance, 3.5 for cum laude, 3.7 for magna cum laude, 3.9 for summa cum laude.
