Graduating with low GPA

Just out of curiosity, someone told me that regardless of how low your GPA might be (ofc not extremely low...), you'll still most likely get a job since a lot employers favor Berkeley title...

How true is that? Just wondering since people been telling me this same thing over and over again...

sounds right to me…i mean who would U want to hire if you were just a regular boss? the kid who got a 3.0 from UC BERKELEY or a 3.5 from SF State? What would you rather get for free, a cheap purse or a luxurious Louis Vuitton handbag? the name is all that counts…

depends on your major. I read a story on huffpo about some berkeley grad who was 23k in debt and had to live in some weird warehouse with his friends, all of whom were berkeley grads, and i think had crappy jobs.

generally, it’s not what college you go to, but what you do in college that gets you things like jobs (e.g. internships)

You guys are in for a rude awakening if you think just going to Berkeley will get y

If you have 3.0 in EECS and a 3.0 in underwater basket weaving are drastically different.

I have friends who have $90k+ offers from EECS with a 3.0-ish GPA + good work experience at a good company.

However, there are 3.8-4.0 GPA graduation from sociology etc that can’t find a good job.

So… I guess GPA doesn’t matter as much as your work experience and major.

@demoz, I’m mainly asking since I was curious.

Seems like starry summarized everything pretty well :P!
