Congratulations to the entire USMA class of 2006!

For anyone interested, the ceremony will televised (webcast?). Go to the website, http://www.usma.edu/ and look for the TV icon on the middle of the page. As of right now, the link is not live but I suspect it will be soon. The ceremony will begin at 9:00 am (ET) so the West Coast audience will need to rise early, but it should be worth it. Don't forget, the President is the speaker.

Screaming Eagle and bzzzt, thanks for all the help you've provided on college confidential. It's been great to hear from those with real "knowledge" (pun intended ;)). Have a great graduation and wonderful careers. Your troops will be fortunate to have you as a leader. Stop by cc once in a while to let us know about life after graduation. We'll love to hear from you. Most of all, thank you for your service.

How many people cried when they tossed the hats?!!!! Raise your hands! LOL That was awesome! May we all be so blessed to be attending one of these graduations one day soon with our children throwing their hats. Congrats again to 2006! Well done!

The conclusion was particularly compelling:

***We live in freedom because young Americans like Patrick, and all the cadets here today, have stepped forward to serve. You have chosen a difficult and dangerous vocation -- and America is grateful for that choice. Today, you will accept a sacred trust: You will lead America's sons and daughters on the battlefield in a time of war. Our nation is counting on you as we count on no other group of young leaders in our country. The last four years have tested you in ways you never imagined -- and you leave here well prepared for the challenges you will face.

There's a saying at West Point that much of the history you teach here was made by the people you taught here. Now the Class of 2006 will leave for the battlefield -- and you will make history. Never falter, never quit. Bring honor to the uniform, and pride to your country. May God bless you, and the Class of 2006. ***

My utmost gratitude to the Class of 2006 and all their families.

Wow. Graduation was just wow. I didn't cry, although I shed tears at the Bacc Mass and at the parade and at Combined Choirs. I'm logging my computer off the network now, and I'll check back with all of you in a few weeks. Best of luck to everyone, pursue your dreams. Every moment of those 47 months was worth it, to walk across the stage and tell the Dean I beat him. God Bless!
