My D attends an all-girls school and there are a number of restrictions on the type of graduation dresses they can wear… I’ve been looking online, and I’ve seen an awful lot of skimpy/tacky little white dresses, but nothing that’s really appropriate. I know it might be a bit early in the season to be shopping, but D will be on a school trip during spring break, and I know that the spring term will fly by. Any recommendations for finding pretty, modest looking, white graduation dresses?
Try Nordstrom online - you can modify a search with length, style, and even color. My daughter needed a similarly appropriate dress for her HS graduation and we found several good options there. I also noticed that quite a few of the other girls in her class did the same thing.
Look in the Nordstrom bridal department online- they have lots of pretty knee length white dresses. Look at other bridal websites for bridsmeaifs dresses because you can often find appropriate white knee length dresses.
J crew, the gap, polo, Dillard’s and old navy all usually have pretty white linen sundresses.
I never would have thought to check qvc.com but that’s where we got my D’s graduation dress, by Liz Claiborne.
I happened to tag along with my sisters to a qvc outlet where I saw they had dresses similar to what D wanted: simple, elegant, not short, not low cut, etc. I did not even know that qvc sold clothes! We had been looking everywhere. I had to order online to get the right size.
Since it was a special occasion, I ordered several dresses so she could pick, but prices were so reasonable I let her keep them all. She normally wears jeans and flannel shirts but she loves those dresses.
Much too early. You’ll see a lot more white dresses pop up in springtime. A lot of schools have the same requirement so I found plenty of options when we were out looking for the same.
^^ Good point. In the spring I started seeing them everywhere.
