graduation lunch ideas?

My D is graduating this year (YAY!) and I am looking for a nice restaurant for a group lunch after commencement on Sunday. This is proving a bit of a challenge, as we don't really want brunch (eggs) but something fancier ($20-30 pp) and need a mid-late afternoon option, as opposed to dinner, to accomodate travel schedules. So, I have 2 questions: first, it seems like the ceremony ended pretty late last year, but I can't really remember, so at what time would a reservation be safe; many restaurants stop serving at 2:30 PM and I'm not sure if we could get there in time (i.e. after the ceremony and pictures, etc, and 2) any ideas for good restaurants in the area - we'd rather not trek downtown, but will travel for great food or ambience!

Thanks for any direction anyone can give!

You might give Brandywine Prime (in Chadds Ford) a call. I’m pretty sure they could make it work.

Our one graduation experience (so far, fingers crossed for 2013 . . . ) featured a cookout/party in the DK/AP courtyard, given by a close friend of the graduate, whose parents were kind enough to include us. So another option might be hosting a picnic yourselves, at Swat.

Either way, congratulations! :D

If you want something closer (Brandywine Prime is about 30 minutes away) you could try something in Media. Azie has an Asian-inspired menu and decor - I know they have brunch that is more than eggs. For something much more traditional, the Towne House (DiIgnazios) has good Italian food and does an excellent job with accommodating groups. They also have small private rooms.

Can’t help with the timing - have not attended a Swat graduation since my own (too many years ago)!
