I made the motel reservations today for S's college graduation. Hope that isn't going to Jinx it!

I had that same thought when I booked ours in August when we visited S1. Oh well you can always cancel hotel rooms! I worried because he’s in a small rural town…only one “real” hotel.

We made ours a year in advance last year. This year will go by so quickly for you parents of college seniors. Pretty soon we will be saying CONGRATULATIONS.

D is graduating from Vandy in May. I made my reservations in May of this year … and two hotels were already sold out when I tried to get a room! As it was, I had to pay $100+/room more than normal. But it only happens once, and we wanted to stay right next to campus. We could have slept on D’s condo floor, but I prefer to save up & have a couple comfortable days enjoying the events.

We’ve been advised to make reservations in May 2011 for 2012 because the hotel we like fills up fast. That will feel strange, but I’m going to do it.

Our D goes to school in a tiny town. We made reservations a week before last year’s graduation. (tapping on wood as I write this…)
If your school is in a small town that is also a tourist destination, you might check out vacationrentals.com for houses available to rent. We have a 3 bedroom house for us and the grandparents, with a nice kitchen, big yard for a party, gas grill, etc. for less than 3 hotel rooms.

Thanks for the reminder, just booked reservations for S’s grad!
