Why is where's your head at on the list? I don't think it's a very graduation-like song?

lol it's funny though..
and this is also for our grade 12 leaver's assembly.. we can have some "non graduation like songs" too..
otherwise it gets too mushy and sickening

The Vitamin C song... Graduation (Friends Forever)

The Beatles and Bob Dylan can't be your only classic rock on there. Put on one song by The Doors, for me.

Green Day- Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)!!!!!!!!!!

What about that "I have the right to Party........" (something like that) song? That would be brilliant for an end-of-the-year party!

Billy Joel-This is the Time
I think it's perfect for graduation

100 years -5 for Fighting is also good too

I understand why people seem to dislike the "over-usage" of the Green Day song, but...

You have to admit it's a very good song and it does fit in very very well with the situation.

I think I'll listen to it now...

:)

"Today" by the Smashing Pumpkins

This was supposed to be used on our graduation video, but the administration didn't like the "I want to turn you on" part. If you've heard the song though, it isn't all that clear this part.

The lyrics fit, and the song isn't overplayed.

Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out
Before I get out

I wanted more
Than life could ever grant me
Bored by the chore
Of saving face

Today is the greatest
Day I've never known
Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out

Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
I tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings

Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day

I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you

Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever really known

"Closing Time" by Semisonic is another good one as someone mentioned above.
Another Suitcase in Another Hall ( Evita)
WHAT?! That song is totally inappropriate for graduation.

"Another suitcase, in another hall..
Take your picture off another wall..
You'll do fine you always have before (where am I going to?)"

"for good" from wicked is a really great song...i'm using it for my slideshow for a sendoff girl scout thing :) awww...it's going to make me cry though (girl scouts makes you really sappy)

At my graduation we're actually performing two of the songs that were suggested- In My Life by the Beatles and For Good from Wicked. They are both incredibly appropriate and I recommend them again to everyone else.

Boby Dylan - Rainy Day Women #12 & 35

'for good' from the musical wicked. listen to it. it's absolutely perfect, i promise.

eve 6 - here's to the night is def a very good graduation song, it was kind of our end of camp song this summer.

it's funny how everyone always recommends the same songs.

i've got all those that you have mentioned.

anyway thank all for your help! i compiled about 50+ songs :) it's all goodd!!!

try the theme song from st elmo's fire, its something we always play at the end of kairos, its great

Hold up. I don't understand the concept of the graduation song. My school is retarded. I don't get it! When does it play? What do you do with it? Gahhh. I feel like such an ignorant fool. :P

the 2005 graduation song is actually "for good" from wicked the musical if u did not know. every high school i have a friend at has that song being performed and it was named in an article in newsweek awhile ago as the most popular/performed song to be this graduation

but seriously.. what is the graduation song for? like, what does it do? my class hasn't been talking about that...

My school is using a Bob Marley song I think...

Ugh. Be thankful your schools are open to legitimate suggestions.
