Our family has been waiting for the announcement of the speaker for graduation. Well, my son received an email this morning from Scott Cowen that there will be two speakers:

Dear Students:
I've always felt, in light of what we've experienced over the last few
months, that this year's commencement will be a special one. Just how
special was made plain this week when George H. W. Bush, 41st President
of the United States, and William J. Clinton, 42nd President of the
United States, agreed to be the keynote speakers at Commencement 2006

I haven't decided if I will enjoy this or not!

Graduation was moved from Saturday, May 20 to Saturday, May 13 to allow time for the added summer session. Of course, this was 7 months after I made hotel reservations!! Luck would have it that our hotel is opened and changed all the reservations for graduation to the correct weekend. my son insisted we stay at the Hampton Inn to be closer to him.

The Hampton Inn is nice, pokey, if you haven't stayed there before. They upped their prices post-Katrina, though (maybe not if you already had the reservation?). I, too, was wondering if underclassmen could go - quite a few will be around, I guess, due to Lagniappe.

Yes, we have stayed at the Hampton Inn a couple of times. The rates wasn't too bad as we kept the same rate I was quoted when I made the reservations last May. My husband and I have enjoyed staying in Metairie on several trips, but my son didn't want us to have to drive back and forth (which would also mean him driving as we need the room in his car for some of the family.)
