Graduation speakers,, who, where?

And what did you think about what they had to say?

I didn’t actually hear it, but John Kerry spoke at St. Paul’s.

Jack Bogle’47, founder of the Vanguard Group, spoke at Blair. You can read his speech here [Blair Academy - News & Events](http://www.blair.edu/News_Events/2009_2010/news_ev_commencement10.shtm). He spoke about community and caring, character and courage and gave each graduate a signed copy of his book “Enough” autographed by him “from one Blair graduate to another.”

Jim Yong Kim (president of Dartmouth) spoke at middlesex

Mitt Romney spoke at Groton

Haha is the president of Dart Korean???

Choate had Vernon Jordan. He was wonderful.

Someone asked about Vernon Jordan’s message. Here’s what I remember: Always appreciate the unbelievably great education that you have received here and use it for good. "Do unto others…he personally researched Choate’s “Culture of Caring” and found that it is an important and real part of the school and to continue that in life…and most importantly, to always value your personal integrity above all else- everything else can be taken away (there was a line about your 401K being managed down to nothing!) but no one can take your personal integrity away from you. There was obviously a lot more, but that’s what this hot, damp, anxious, excited parent took away from it.

Tulane had Anderson Cooper and Vassar had Lisa Kudrow

Choate VJ’s message as summarized here seems cookie cutter bland. :(

Don’t you know, p? they all are. nothing new. No one expects rocket science.

What about DA,PEA, and PA?

NMH had John Irving; son said it was the first speech he has truly enjoyed.

this year SM had a teacher who had been there for 45 years speak, but the years before there have been really interesting speakers… if anyone wants a list I can look it up.

I don’t know about Exeter and Deerfield, but Andover traditionally does not have an outside speaker. The Head of School gives the commencement address.

That’s right - no outside speaker at PA. Here’s a news story about the commencement at PA: [Phillips Academy - Class of 2010 Graduates from Phillips Academy](http://www.andover.edu/About/Newsroom/Pages/ClassOf2010GraduatesfromPhillipsAcademy.aspx)
