Graduation Unit/Semester Limit for Tranfers

I'm a spring transfer and I was told I would have until Fall 08 to complete my major req.'s (so I would technically have the same number of semesters as a fall transfer)

from <a href="http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/pyyac/senior/unit.html%5B/url%5D">http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/pyyac/senior/unit.html</a> :
Students double majoring can continue to enroll until they exceed 136 total units. Alternatively, you can complete as many units as necessary so long as you complete your double major program within nine semesters if you were admitted as a freshman or five semesters if you were admitted as a junior.

i am considering double majoring in econ and applied math.

if i have 5 semesters to finish, does that mean i can extend my stay at cal until end of spring 09?

i also want to pursue a minor in rhetoric. i guess thats do-able in 5 semesters (plus summer sessions) and w/o unit limits.

what do you guys think?

I am not sure. You might want to consider the applied math focus on economics as a possibility instead of math and econ.

You should figure out the required classes for each major/minor and see if it's doable in the time you might have. Try your best to figure out sequences you'll have to take in order and when courses are offered, especially required courses.

You were admitted for spring 07? If so, I imagine you would be allowed five semesters, your last semester being spring 09 (if you were to double major or double major and minor) I'm not sure about major/minoring, but it's possible that they would extend it for that, too.

yeah i already have a couple excel spreadsheets going w/ planned courses and such. i know i can def. finish math and econ double major by the end of fall 08 (thanks to summer session). but i really want to pursue a rhetoric minor and having spring 09 gives me that opportunity.

i guess ill email my admissions counselor. get her input on this.

What it says is clear: if you double major you get 5 semesters.
