Graduation was bittersweet.

I can't believe I've been on CC for more than 4 years, it seems like yesterday that S was agonizing over his college choices. Now it's all over, and I can look back at his experience, and ours, and say that he made a very good choice. He's academically well prepared for his next step (graduate school in a year or two) and leaves having made great friends, fond memories and good connections. He's ready for his next adventure.

We'll miss our annual trip to Walla Walla, we've grown very fond of the place; it's a great little town, a wonderful place for a quintessential college experience. Whitman's administration is very welcoming and caring, and focused on giving it's students the best support possible. I think we can all say it was a great 4 years.

Bopambo - Thanks for all your comments and guidance over the last year. We have 3 more to go. Whitman has been a great choice for our D and she has loved her first year there. Hope your S has a great time as he moves to the next phase!

tliebman, I’m so glad to hear that your daughter is doing well! Whitties are a special bunch, I’ve been so impressed with all the talented, smart and incredibly nice kids I’ve met there, and I’m sure your D is no exception. I’m going to really miss parents’ weekends; I loved all the theater, music, and games we watched and the lively youngsters we met. Have a great three more years!

S is still in Walla Walla waiting for the snow to melt in the Cascades so he can begin his 2700 mile hike from Canada to Mexico on the Pacific Crest Trail. This really will be an adventure!

Wow…the Pacific Crest Trail hike I assume. That is a major undertaking. It will be beautiful and he will definitely be in great shape by the end! Wish I could have done that but I’m lucky to go 5 miles with a backpack these days  I may be on the PCT l a bit in August with my D and some others for a long weekend. Who knows…maybe we will pass each other and nod…
