<p>I know that when comparing one thing to the general category, you use other.
Ex. That building is taller than any other building in the city. opposed to that building is taller than any building in the city.
But say the sentence reads: the subways in New York are as clean as any subways in the places I have visited. Does this still require an "other" since is logically makes sense that a subway is as clean as that same subway.</p>
<p>It makes sense.</p>
