Submitted my RD app two days ago, reread it today. In my common app essay I said "with my community" instead of "within" and "was these realizations" instead of "were." Doomed? I don't think so, but have any current students done something similar?

Ugh, dumb post I know. Just had to tell someone/vent.

Correct it on the common app. Then send an extremely polite note to your admission counselor explaining the situation. Say you just reviewed your common app and realized your final corrections for your essay didn’t make it on and that you’ve since fixed it on the common app. Ask if it is possible to resubmit your essay. Worst case is they say no. One of my children had a similar problem with a similar caliber school he applied to ea and that’s how he handled it–they let him resubmit and he was accepted. (But chose vandy)

@fondmemories is it worth the trouble? Like will it honestly impact my decision? Because after 2+ months of having this essay and sending it to a few other schools (and reading it a lot in between then), I just noticed it. So I’m not sure how major it really is.

I have no idea whether it’s a big issue or not–maybe have someone local who’s knowledgeable about college admissions look at it and offer advice. I was just suggesting how to approach the university if you decide you want to.

I don’t know how major it is, but personally I would try to contact the admissions office. Better safe than sorry.
