Grammar mistakes in Short Answer Essay! :(

Hi. well. i'm mildly freaking out about this and want some advice on what to do. I ended up submitting my Common Application very close to my first school's deadline and because of that it seems that I accidentally uploaded and sent an earlier version of my short answer essay that has 3 GRAMMAR MISTAKES on it. one was a "has" that should have been a "have", i forgot a "the" somewhere, and i said something strange like "i let myself lose itself to the music" or something like that

i realized my mistakes the day after and was reallyyy upset and angry at myself for doing everything in the last minute. since i didn't know you were allowed to make different versions of the common app, i sent that same version to basically all my schools. i kicked myself REALLY hard the next day when i found out you could make diff versions!

the reason i'm specifically upset about my grammatically-incorrect essay going to cornell is because i remember the admissions guy saying they pay closer attention to it than even the personal essay. and because cornell is one of my top schools. what should i do?? should i just let it go and forget about it, or should i email them with an explanation and the real version? would that be too obsessive/over-the-top?

It can’t hurt to send them that e-mail.
Spelling mistakes would be worse, but I think you’ll just have to hope they don’t notice now.

i can’t imagine they pay more attention to the short answer essay than the personal essay. Don’t worry about it.

The same thing happened to me. I sent in a hard copy of the better essay as soon as I realized what happened with a note attached explaining the situation and asking if they could please replace the essay they had in my file with that one. I called a few days later to check up, and she pulled out my file and told me that they had my new one and had gotten rid of the old one, but kept the note I sent in just for records. It all worked out fine. Good luck!

Are u an ED candidate?

I also made some mistakes, but it would be okay…hopefully…haha

Thanks guys  I sent a Cornell admin an email explaining everything with the real version in the body of the essay; he promptly replied saying it was no problem and they would fix it. =]!!

and no, i’m a regular decision candidate.
