Grammar Question

A volunteer organization, the Covington Soup Kitchen has been feeding needy families since 1977, annually distributing nearly a million pounds of food each year. No error

I chose E, but the answer key says D. What's wrong with 'nearly'?

Thanks in advance!

“each year” is repetitive since it already said annually.

“annually” = “each year”

So, it is redundant.

It’s redundant. “annually” also means “each year.”

Edit: And I was too late.

Was that in the SAT? I didn’t get it…

no it was not. it is an old problem
