<p>None of the presents I receieved on my birthday this year WERE equally as memorable as THE ONES you gave me last year.</p>

<p>The problem with the sentence you gave was incorrect singularity. Think about it this way. "None of you was bad." Correction: "None of you WERE bad."
Also, there's an incorrect comparison that is between the presents received on his/her birthday and whatever the hell "you gave me last year" was.</p>
