Is this thing worth it? I totally forgot that I have the SAT this saturday, and I haven't studied at all yet!

My score right now is 1320 (700v 620m), and I'd like to get it up to the 1420-1450 range at least.

Verbally, i don't have much of a problem. I took a practice test this morning and got a 770. Math, though, kills me. I always seem to float around the 610-650 range for some reason. Grr.

Any other suggestions? Verbal or math, i don't care.

Thanks guys!

Same here ^_^ Hmm... I'd suggest brushing up on any basic ideas you're having problems with. After taking Pre-Calc, I literally just realized how much it would've helped to remember that a 30-60-90 triangle's opposite sides can be easily called 1-square root of three-2. Also try sample problems and working on them efficiently and quickly. The worst part about the SAT for me is the timing, though I'm not sure if you're the same way ;)

Instead of worrying about verbal, I'd concentrate on the math ^_^; A hundred points is asking a lot since you haven't studied, and many colleges will take the best score you get in each category, so 700 sounds like a sure thing. Best of luck!

No!

Go to www.sparknotes.com, read the online book, take the online tests. Don't pay some company money to help you. Put in a little bit of effort and it will pay off.

The only reason I mentioned this grammatix thing is that someone on this site told me it was good, but i've never even thought of spending money on something like that before. Seems kind of pointless to me.

I think 100+ points is doable. I've taken 3 verbal practice tests now and gotten 2 770s and 1 730. I'm gonna spend all day tomorrow prepping for math, heh.

I def. agree with lindsey. Sparknotes is great, I used it for my SAT II US History, and got a 750.

Yeah, I used sparknotes for US history and got a 730. I found it to be better than barrons by far. I was very disappointed with my score though :(. I was a bit arrogant going into the test, as I scored a 5 on the AP exam quite easily. That was a mistake!

It's a little bit arrogant to be very disappointed with a 730 too.

Not when history is your strongest subject.

Also, its kind of disappointing when it seems nearly everyone else on this forum scores 750+ on that test. Then again, maybe i'm being selectively cursory in my observations...heh.

i agree with lindseylujh...stop complaining to everyone else about a score that is obviously above average...no one wants to hear it so keep it to yourself

guys, if all the people depressed about 700+ shut up, then it'd be the 650+ people who'd get called arrogant if they complained, and if they shut up, the 600+ and so on. I think people should set their own expectations for themselves, use these boards to vent if they want (everyone does) and not be annoyed by people with higher ones as if it's arrogant to have prepared and expect success.

I got a higher score than him. I'm not annoyed about his score. It is arrogant, however, to say that a 730 is not a success and to demean the many, many people who studied a lot harder than him and scored lower. That's rude.

He said he was 'very disappointed' and came off as though he was entitled to score higher, which is the epitome of arrogance.

grammatix helps ppl raise from a 200M and 200V to a 250M and 250V

Note I said higher expectations and not higher scores! If someone thinks they were entitled to score higher and didn't, too bad for them, so can we stop with the value judgments? I mean I'm sure you felt "entitled" to score above 500 on your test - expectations and the definition of arrogance are so subjective. I wasn't talking specifically about this guy, who said he was in fact arrogant. I just don't think that people should have to hide their feelings about scores.

Yeah, I wouldn't purchase Grammatix. I had the opportunity to glance over the e-book, and I wasn't impressed. It is too elementary to be beneficial to the people on this forum.

Jerod

Its not arrogance - i just didn't expect so many art questions ;)
