The old teenybopper in me enjoyed a good Harry Styles performance though dude almost fell off one of the props!

Stevie and Smoky STILL GOT IT

I didn’t know Brandi Carlisle was such a rocker!

Ugh, the “in memory of” tears me apart every time . Seems SO extensive I’d loss seeing them one after another.

Brandi Carlile absolutely rocks! I’ve seen her many times, going back to the mid 00’s. She puts on an unbelievable live show.

LOVING the show. Lizzo, Harry, Chris Stapleton on the Motown number with Stevie, Kacey playing Loretta’s guitar and Sam Smith and Kim Petras, who before tonight I didn’t know was trans. Loving the whole show.

ETA: I didn’t love Willie winning best country album, but I get it. Thought it should’ve gone to Miranda.

Have to hit the sack for my early work alarm in the morning - let me know if there are any good performances I need to look up
Tomorrow!

Not happy that Odesza did not win the electronic album but it is hard to compete with Beyoncé! Her dress was just wow.

Odesza, we still love you!

I generally don’t veer off-topic but yeah, it’s weird that Stevie Nicks isn’t there for the Christine McVie moment.

Dr. Dre! Great speech. :+1::+1:

Trevor Noah has been a great host. Lots of great performances so far. Stevie Wonder and Chris Stapleton were great.

Not surprised at all that Stevie Nicks(love her and enjoyed seeing her live a few years ago) wasn’t there. There were many artists that died last year and Christine was one of them. Most others did not even get singled out for recognition. Sheryl Crowe and Bonnie Raitt did fine with her song but nothing compares with Christine’s voice on that song. I thought it was great that Mick Fleetwood was there. That was what was touching to me.

Great show so far.

I’m not watching, but seeing the names posted here. I recognize some names, with the emphasis on “some.”

I believe that means I am truly “old”.

Just kidding (kinda’)…

I do recall a Rolling Stone book (magazine, not group) talking about the most outrageous moments in Grammy history. As an awoved Beatlemaniac, I remember the entry for the 1964 awards. By any measure, 1964 was the year of the Beatles, but the record of the year went to “The Girl From Ipanema.” The Beatles did win a few awards, but NOTHING commensurate with their US and global impact, both from a popularity and critical standpoint.

I’ve always taken the Grammys with a bag full of rock salt. Like I said, call me “old.”

I am so glad that Luke Combs sang Going, Going, Gone. I was telling ds2 that some of his most recent stuff was starting to sound the same, but I love this song.

Hip hop montage was great.

Excellent! Visual aids! always helpful to match an outfit, I mean face, with a name.

ETA: holy cow the Grammys are giving the met gala some serious competition!

That song :smiling_face_with_tear: :smiling_face_with_tear: :smiling_face_with_tear:

I loved that Run DMC wore a Beastie Boys t-shirt, Busta, and Missy’s performances. Missy knows what the people want to hear (the hits), great costumes, and top dancing. Pleasantly surprised PE appeared together!

I loved Lizzo’s acceptance speech. I’m going to have to check out Samara Joy!

Note to CC’ers: you can NOT be “old” by watching music award shows and be introduced to new/upcoming artists that are current! I think that every generation of music has something for everyone.

I thought the show (at least as much as I watched before I had to go to bed) did a good job of having cutting edge AND legendary “older” artists.

I also enjoyed Trevor Noah.
