Grand Daddy of all Dares to increase your chances

according to a post i just saw, and i also think it is kind of true, it seems that african-americans have an easier time, so here is what i dare, i dare everyone who sees this post to apply as an under-represented-minority, yes, put you are african american on your apps and change your name! from Hung to watever, and we’ll see what happens, and here’s why my idea should work, because, if colleges accept you, they can’t reject you for being from another race, that would be straight up racism!!! and a lie like that isn’t academic dishonesty!!! no harm people, no harm!!!
this will not only teach colleges a lesson (if we are right)
but on the other hand, if it fails, then it’ll teach us a lesson (that schools are not racists)
let’s do it everyone

<p>I'm pretty sure they can turn you down for lying about anything.</p>

<p>I always refuse to answer that question, though. It's always optional. I just put "Would prefer not to answer."</p>

<p>The supreme court advocates affirmative action as a form of diversity so it wouldnt work. Plus its too big of a risk, maybe you could try it on your safeties but that would seem like a waste of app fees.</p>

<p>that was funny
why don't you try it first and tell us what happens? ;)
Yeah, I don't like answering that question as well, but unfortunately, people can figure out that I'm Asian from my name, so it doesn't really matter if I put my race or not.</p>

<p>that's what i said, i am chinese!!! i was thinking of changing from Wang to like sdfjl1234 or something, some weird name, so they wouldn't be tell wat race i am from.
and one person trying wouldn't prove anything! but if everyone applies, then they won't be able to disguish what color each one is!
and if the supremecourt advocates that, does that mean they are openly racist? we should write to the supremecourt!, i don't think it's really fair that a student with superior everythiing get rejected b/c of her/his race! i have seen it happen, i don't think it's fair! (i know someone may say" world is unfair" but shouldn't we try to make it fair?)
i am not just trying to start something, it's just this is a serious issue! and it should be taken in to serious consideration by us the students and brought to the attention of admission commission and everyone who has power!</p>

<p>Why don't you just change your name to a serial number to ensure total race anonymity?</p>

<p>nah .. i got a better one.</p>

<p>pretend your a homosexual and write about how you were harassed, attacked, insulted, etc.</p>

<p>and than if they ask say you turned striaght over the summer 1!!!</p>

<p>When I worked for this one company, I was the security guard and in charge of the applications. Well just to mess with people, I premarked all of the applications under the affirmative action section "black." The human resources lady never did figure out why so many apps came in with black checked off then scratched out. :)</p>

<p>Newby, why don't you focus on genuine ways to make yourself desireable to the schools you love?</p>

<p>I'll go a step further. You have posted many scheme ideas, leaving me thinking you will be one of those left with the really undesireable back up next year. You still have time to get real, honest and put your besr foot forward. Also, if you are the type pf person who wants loopholes and easy short cuts, it will come thropugh in your record and recs.</p>

<p>...Interview, anyone?</p>

<p>Oh I know, you can pull a Michael Jackson and get plastic surgery.</p>

<p>a (white) kid at my school checked that he wanted to be considered for the african american scholarship on the psats. he got the scholarship (i think he got somewhere in the low 1300s), but ended up getting into some sort of trouble over it. i'm not sure the details surrounding it, but he ultimately had to give up the scholarship</p>

<p>you could just try it on a school thats just a total reach for you</p>
