Granville Towers?????

Just got a letter from Granville Towers housing saying that it's an option for UNC students... anyone care to comment? Sounds bad, but the picture is nice.

sounds bad? explain...

i dno, seems like secluded/isolated

Hey guys, I live in granville towers right now as a freshman and just wanted to say a few things. There are advantages and disadvantages to living in Granville.

Advantages:
House Keeping every week (big plus)
Food right downstairs instead of across campus
4 people to a bathroom
right on franklin street
parking (you have to pay but could be a huge plus)
only a few hundred dollars more than on campus
fun events held by Granville
only about an 11 minute walk from classes instead of 20-25 from south campus

Disadvantages:
Alot of people on campus think granvillites are stuck up (misconception)
somewhat seclude from campus....but so is south campus!

There are three towers for granville: West, East, and South

West is traditionally the rowdier tower with a bunch of frat and soro. potential pledges.....i would not live there unless thats your scene

East has the "Granville Apartments" up on the top floor for people who want to live alone and have enough money to do so.

South has regular halls, academic halls, and substance free halls.

I live in south and I think it is the best. We have three elevators instead of two which means getting up and down faster. Its also quieter and less crazy here......although it can get wild from time to time.

I would do more research if I was you and see where you would like to stay....I'm not trying to sway you in any way.....just telling you what i know.

Anyone know where we can look more in depth at Granville towers than in the brochere they gave us? They have a website, but only a few of the links seem to work.

I have been told this is where most of the transfer students end up.

I'm not sure what you mean by "where most of the transfer students end up" because anyone and everyone who stays in Granville does so by choice. I have so far met two transfer students here. I would say the population is 55% fresh. 40% soph. 5% other stuff

When I met with the admissions officer he said that most transfer students go to granville towers. Whether this is because they choose to or because of a lack of space in other places I don't know.

I wouldn't recommend Granville simply because it's so isolated.
