Grapes of Wrath Help

Ok so I have an assignment for AP Lang & Comp. I have to write one essay for each of the six questions given. Each essay should be around one to two pages. I don't need you guys to write me an essay, but it would be nice if you could help me get started with these questions. I'm really not sure how to answer them so I need some information on them.

Why does John Steinbeck interrupt the beginning chapters with descriptions and commentary? What is the effect of this? If the novel did not have this, how would it impact the meaning and purpose of the story?

The heroes are close to the bottom of the social ladder, and their behavior is vile and coarse. Why did John Steinbeck choose to portray them this way? What would be the result if they acted more properly?

Socioeconomic views in the story seem like they are based from Lenin, Marx, and other socialist thinkers. However, the story still seems to support the American Dream as well as the principles of democracy, freedom, endurance, and persistence. How do you reconcile these two views? What is the point that John Steinbeck is making to people of all socioeconomical backgrounds?

How does family arise and change through the story? Trace the Joad's views of concerning only for themselves to becoming altruistic, and caring for people of all kinds.

What purpose does Jim Casy serve? Who is he at the beginning, and how does he change through the story. Who is he at the end of the novel? Is he some sort of religious symbol? How does he affect others? How does he view other people, life and the soul?

According to John Steinbeck, what is the relationship between people and the land? How have the new land owners violated these rules and policies?

Thanks.

Sparknotes is a good idea:) I would help you, but I’ve yet to read that book:/ Sorry:(

To read the Grapes of Wrath is to enter a living hell of pain and suffering.

This is true!
I HATED that book. It was dry, long, and depressing (haha, what a pun). We read it for AP Eng Lang and I actually read about half of it. I couldn’t stand it, so I didn’t read everything.
