I want to start out by saying that I would love to major in Graphic Design and take an art pathway, but I know how competitive the field is. I also believe that I am good at math which makes me wonder if there is anything for me that will provide financial stability in the future. I’m extremely indecisive when it comes to choosing a major, but I know that I love art and possibly CS. I don’t have a clear understanding of what CS is because my school doesn’t offer it, but I watched a YouTube video of someone creating a website from scratch and it really interested me. Does a major in web development and a minor in graphic design work? Is there another major that focuses more on designing and using creativity (still involving coding or something along that line) versus troubleshooting and problem solving? Also, are there any decent-paying jobs that incorporate art, design, or creativity into coding? I am good at visualizing things and physically replicating what I picture in my head, I also love algebra, writing, and I would prefer to be around people, if this helps?
A career combining art and CS is possible and many schools have programs similar to what you are describing. The first ones that comes to mind are RIT and Carnegie Mellon. Check out their websites to see what they offer.
You could do something like a double major: Get a BS degree in Computer Science and a BA degree in Graphic design.
