Graphic Design College Search

Hi!
I am wanting to go to school for Graphic Design/Visual Communications and am desperate for advice about which schools are good and worth my time/money! A little bit about me: I just graduated from high school in June, and will be finishing my Associates degree at a community college this coming spring, then would like to transfer somewhere to get my Bachelors. I get really good grades (3.88 GPA) but didn't take the SAT or ACD since I was just going to a community college. I will be paying for school without help from my parents, however am still required to put their info on financial aid applications, which makes things tough. (my EFC for this year was around 25K, even though my parents won't be paying and I work part time for minimum wage) I am, of course, willing to take out loans for school but would like to save as much money as possible. The only school's I have looked at in-depth are Western Washington University, Seattle University, and Central Washington University but am now realizing I should do more research before making a decision. Ideally, I would like to say reasonably close to home (Washington, Oregon, BC, possibly Idaho and California) but am open to other suggestions as well, if they offer a really good package. Also, I would prefer if there was on-campus housing available, as I really don't want to miss out on the experience of living on-campus and think it will be less of a hassle than having to find an apartment or make other arrangements.

Sorry my post got so long! I would really appreciate any suggestions/advice/input!
Thanks!

Are you in Washington or Oregon?

I’m in western washington, about 45min north of Seattle, sorry I forgot to mention that!

I was told Visual Communication and Graphic Design are not the same thing. Not sure how true that is though. From doing research online most traditional colleges/art schools are calling it Graphic Design.
