Graphic Design has been a hobby of mine ever since I can remember. I use photoshop and illustrator all the time.

So, Is it possible to Major in graphic design but minor in biology or chemistry and be able to go the med-school? A lot of the best art schools don't have science programs. If anyone knows of any others besides CMU, please let me know.

Also, my SATs and ACTs aren't really good right now, but I am studying on a daily basis to get them up
540 CR
590 Math
25 Composite ACT

Yeah..I know, but what do I need the get them to, to where I stand a chance. I'm a strong student in everything else, just not tests...

If you major in graphic design (called Communication Design here) a heavy emphasis is placed on portfolio.

Your not suppose to major in your hobby, but want you want to do for the rest of your life.

I understand that, but I want to be a doctor and you can't go to med-school in undergrad.

Go for it.

S wants to be a designer by way ME '06. My father was a MD but also was a fair designer. My MIL was also an MD but is a pretty good artist.

If anyone is in Communication Design at CMU and is willing to answer some questions of mine, please let me know.

I've known people who majored in music as undergrads and went to med school. I say go for it! I don't however, know much free space there is at CMU to take the pre-med sequence. Design courses tend to be time-eaters.
