graphics card question

I found this graphics card for a good deal at CompUSA:
ATI Radeon 9550 256MB

and I might get Medieval II:Total War for PC. I heard it has some tough graphics demands. Would the card mentioned above be able to handle it? I know it would in terms of memory (minimum specs are 128mb), BUT I read that the game requires special pixel shader features to work, which I don't know much about. My computer matches or exceeds the other requirements, but it doesn't have a graphics card.

It's a good card for a good price.

I'm assuming you're a casual gamer, so I think you should have no problem running Medieval II.

This is better than GeForce4, right?

I'm not too familiar with ATI...

Don't get the 9550:( It's ancient.

I'm assuming you have AGP.. Get the Nvidia Geforce 6600.

I have pci actually. I found this deal for half off. The card usually goes for $100 and I could get it for $50. It sounds good to me, I don't care about having a top of the line card. I guess I'm a casual gamer, and I don't have a graphics card in my pc at all so I want to get something that will at least play the game. My old games (mainly counterstrike source) don't work on my computer either so I also want it to play that.

it definitely exceeded the graphics card requirement for CS, by a LOT

6600 is just a good card all around. Get it.

$54.99, get it while it lasts bro.

6600 LE - $44.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141027

I have an EVGA GeForce 6800 Ultra (GT oc'ed to 410/1100) 256mb (PCI-E).
But I would KILL to own any of these:

LE = light edition = sucks :D

I know, but it's better than what he has atm.

which is nothing
lol
:)

Don't hate on integrated graphics...lol. I had to play cs and dod:source at one point on my integrated graphics card. Suffice to say, those couple of weeks were a gaming nightmare.

so ... did you just contradict yourself or what?
my integrated card cant even play rakion! they REQUIRE either ati or nvidia, its not like my card memory doesnt meet the other requirements

What I meant was, if he had no other choice but to use integrated graphics, whatever. But if he wants to upgrade, which is what it looks like, more power to him. No contradicting going on here.

dont buy medevil II, i played the demo and it sucked. You will get bored of it real fast.

if you're running on pci, you're probably not going to find a better card than the 9550. the card's alright, but dont expect it to run newer games.

i got the card, and it runs Counter-strike perfectly, the Medieval II demo moderately well.

I didn't find the demo boring at all, it's a challenge sure, but I play chess online so I really like it. It feels like playing chess on a massive scale, and involves similar tactics.
