I want to invest in a graphing calculator for my Pre-calc class next year and for the SAT's. What type of calculator is the best buy? I don't need something thats unecessary, I just want a solid, calculator that isn't obsolete. Thanks!

TI-89 Titanium - The very best, the elite, => Excellent for pre-calc, Calc., AP Calc, SAT's, college, etc.

i love my TI-83 Plus...it's older but it served all my precalc, calc needs perfectly. I feel that unless you're planning to go into advanced math in college, a TI-83 Plus should be just fine.

89>j00
but you have to make sure it's allowed in pre-calc, etc. I know my school didn't let me use mine during it :-(.

TI 83 Plus served me just fine all through high school (Algebra, Precalc, Calc) and for SATs and Math IIC. My school required us to buy it, but for the incoming students I think they have them on the TI 84.

I'm torn whether to spend the extra 40 dollars to get a TI-89 tit. opposed to a ti-83+

BTW a bit off topic, but how long does it take to master the Ti Calculators?

get an 89. i have a 83+ but am getting the titanium version of 89..

Is the titanium version the same as the TI-89 Plus or is it different

Um, there isn't a TI-89 Plus. It's just 89 and 89 Titanium.

the 89 is only for people who want to play super mario on their calc's in math class rather than listen to the teacher

the 83+ is more than enough. i have one, have an almost perfect record in math, and i got a 5 on the BC. 89 is just a waste of money, and lots of teachers don't allow it.

Ok thanks programmer1324 i dont know alot about calc's. Yeah i think I am going to stick with my 83+

The 89 is NOT a waste of money - it's an extremely good investment - you will use for a variety of different classes, including pre-calc, Calculus AB & BC (and the corresponding AP Exams), the SATs (SAT I, as well as SAT II subject tests), and most importantly, college!! :D :D

I must say that my TI-89 Titanium was the most valuable birthday present that I ever received because of its versatility and usefulness.

I took BC Calc, got A 5/5 on the AP, and I used an 83+

Good for you :D :D :D :D

I realize it is important for you to tell everyone that you are perfect (5's on all your AP Exams and IIC Math test) and that no one should need help, but please understand that your intelligence far exceeds everyone elses... :D
