Graphing calculators

I am planning on buying a Texas Instruments calculator. However, I need one that I can use on the SAT, ACT and IB exams. Which do you guys think is better the TI 83+ or the TI 84? For those of you in IB, will they allow the TI 84 on IB exams?

i have the 83+ and it has worked fine for me...as far as i know, there isn't a huge difference in models until you get to the 89...which can do some funky calculus stuff for ya. but i like my 83+, so i'd say save your money and get it instead of the 84.

I also have a TI-83+, and I haven't had to do anything yet (I'm in Multivariable now, I took all the math exams except for AP Stats, and so on and so forth) that I couldn't do on my calculator. Most of the people I know who have the TI-84 have it because...let's be honest, they're calculator geeks. I don't know specifically the rules for the IB program (I checked out their website, but it's confusing and I couldn't find the calculator info on there), but I would think that any of your math teachers could tell you that. I doubt that it would be a problem, but I don't know that it wouldn't be.

TI-84's are basically the same as 83's, except they look better and have a few more features. If you're spending the money for a new calculator, I'd definitely recommend an 84.

I've had a TI-83+ for over 6 years (since 7th grade). It still works like new! Best investment I've ever made.

The TI-84's have more memory, so you can store more programs and games...but for the AP test, these programs have to be deleted.

I have never had a proctor actually check or make us clear our calculators...

Same here 10char

For the AP science exams, calculator memories do NOT have to be cleared. Of course, there are some sections of the test where no calculators are allowed.
