Also ,i have applied to university via GRE but havenot received any communication from college whether they accepted my scores or not.Can any body please help me in understanding process..

Thanks in advane.

Do you mean you sent your GRE scores to colleges already? I don’t think they’ll usually respond to that; once you start an official application to the college, your GRE score will be added to the file.

The above is correct–you can’t apply to a masters degree program by just sending your score. You need to visit the school’s website and follow all the steps for applying. Note that more will be taken into account than just your GRE–undergraduate performance will certainly be a factor. You should also be aware that unlike PhD programs, masters programs may require you to fund the full cost of your degree yourself. I think you need to do a lot more research into this area.

Thanks for your comment.I took GRE again and this time I got 306 (150 in Verbal and 156 in quant). Can any one please tell any good colleges I can get or should i take GRE one more time…any suggestion is valuable.

Thanks

You have to look at individual programs at individual colleges. For undergraduates, schools look pretty much at same SAT for all students (maybe a few make some programs like engineering more selective) but at graduate level, scores are only part of package and what you need varies even within college. For instance, your score may be more than enough for masters in education, but not quite enough for masters in computer science.

What do you want to study? Is it also your UG field? Best source of advice is a current/former professor in the area you want to study. They could give you some good ideas about suitable programs.

Provide more information, such as your undergraduate GPA and major. Whether you have research experience or not. Whether you are interested in a professional masters degree or a research based one. Even so, asking for good schools is a really vague question. Do a bit of web site searching to find programs you are interested in. There is no substitute for this kind of research.

Hi All,Thanks for your comment.I was looking for MIS (Master in Information Science).I am having 3 years of experience in software development.and done my btech in Information technology. No research work as such just normal software development job in MNC(Dell Services).earlier I was looking for Univ of Illiniois but I dont think my Gre marks will help me much .CGPA is 7.1.

Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Seniors,

Any suggestion ?It would be really helpful to me

Ah, you have a B.Tech. and I assume it is from India? If so, it is likely a 3-year program and some U.S. universities will not admit you to a masters program without an additional year of graduate work in your home country. This is the kind of information you need to look at on the web pages of various programs and ask about if it is not obvious. Start by searching for MIS programs with Google and then go from there. No one can really give you suggestions blindly.
