I just got my GRE MATH Sub. It is too low just 710 67%. I don
t know what to do. If the graduate school don
t want the sub. Should I still sent it ?

I can’t remember my exact score, but I think it was somewhere in the 700s, and I believe it was the 77th percentile. I got into Brown, Rutgers, SUNY Stony Brook, and UCLA. I was rejected from Harvard, MIT, and Columbia. I also applied to some safer schools but withdrew my applications once gaining acceptance at other more desirable schools.

Frankly, the GRE subject test is a much less significant factor in graduate school admissions than things like coursework, math GPA, research experience, and recommendations. It’s a mystery to most of us how much they actually come into play (although I was told by someone at Rutgers that they were used in the initial ranking of applicants).

A score in that range isn’t going to raise any eyebrows either way. Tip top dream schools might not be pleased with them, but these are the sorts of schools where even the most brilliant undergraduates aren’t always accepted. Since you mentioned you’re applying to a school that doesn’t require them, I’m going to assume (and hopefully not offend you by saying that) I’m guessing you’re not talking about tip top dream schools here. If you’re talking about more reachable schools, then I’m guessing it won’t matter much.

And if you’re applying to schools that don’t require subject test scores, I’ve generally heard it’s better to include them. Especially with your score, you’ve probably scored much better than a significant number of the applicants.

Here’s some admissions stats for one of the better schools:

That might give you some idea of where you stand.

Thanks a lot .The school I want to apply is Stony brook and the Penn State university . I did REU this summer ,but actually our team proved nothing at the end. So I am not sure whether I will go to write part or not ? Should I write it ? How can I lighten part? I am a little lost since the that bad score.
