GRE score increases through studying

How much did your GRE scores increase by studying?

That is, how much did your score increase by between the time you took a diagnostic test and the time you took the real test? Or, if you took the GRE more than once, how much did studying help improve your scores?

my quant went from 540 (1993) to 730 (2006), I didnt study verbal the second tome, the score was the same. So just on math, 190 points.

Year Verbal Quant. AWA Total
2004 390 710 4.0 1100

2005 550 800 4.0 1350

+160 +90 +250

1) Second time around I made 4000+ flash cards from the words in Barrons
2) Practiced as many verbal problems as possible
3) I actually looked at the practice Quant this time.

2003: 600V, 750M, 690 psych
2005: 750V, 750M, 750 psych

1: 460V, 800M, 5.0A
2: 710V, 800M, 5.0A

I'm not sure how much the increase in verbal score was a function of studying versus the 101 degree fever I had the first time I took it, hopefully grad schools will be sympathetic and don't think its just a cop out excuse. I studied fairly intensly the 2nd time I took it for the verbal for about 2 weeks.

The tests were taken 1 month apart.

Note: the GRE will be changing in 2007 in a way similar to the way the SAT has, eliminating analogies and using more critical reading.

For the same reasons (to help women)?

does anyone know a good place to get GRE flashcards for the vocab section? Thanks

I have an electronic version of flash cards in the form of a powerpoint.

"For the same reasons (to help women)?"

I beg your pardon?

sweetdreams2k1, how did you get an electronic version of flash cards in the form of a powerpoint?

Free flashcard software

You have to make the flashcards yourself, but that is best for your retention
