<p>I think another point in this article is simply the increased level of play among potential-ivy students, and that A LOT of these athletes don’t come from the highest income bracket. To chose between Yale over X State because of financial matters is one thing, but again you must qualify academically to even be looked at. This is great for the growth of Ivy sports. </p>
<p>It is hard to make something prestigious overnight (try asking me about our failing school newspaper), but this is a step in the right direction.</p>
<p>I have seen the level of recruiting in the Ivies and NESCAC improve significantly in the past few years–and wondered why-- now I know. This makes sense! These kids are smart and strong and want institutions where they can indeed have it all. I look forward to the day that the Ivies compete strongly in those sports they can compete in post season.</p>
