Hi, im starting to prepare/write essays for applications next year and trying to look up as many colleges as possible to have a broad range of choices. Would you tell me some great biochem/chem schools out there?

I currently have 3.9-4 GPA and 33ACT. i scored 800 on Spanish SATII and not really going to submit anyother scores. I would like to consider great schools, far reach to comfort zone ones.

Hmm for Biochem Western Polytechnic Institute used to be very good but its been a long time since I looked at them. Other than that I have no clue best of luck.

ANy ivy league always has great chem program…obviously MIT or CALtech

I’m probably biased since I’m at Penn, but I would recommend UPenn’s biochem/chem department.

Furthermore, you have a chance of being invited for the Vagelos Scholars Program in Molecular Life Sciences, which I am in. Basically, during your 4 undergraduate years, you can major in either Chemistry or Biochemistry as well as submatriculate and receive a Masters in Chemistry. Lots of people double major as well, ie I am going to double major with Biochem and Biophysics. We get alot of academic perks such as being able to skip prerequisites in science classes so no need to take Gen Chem/Lab or Gen Bio. Furthermore, during our Sophmore and Junior summers, we get paid to stay at Penn and work in whichever lab we have chosen.

Wisconsin Madison. Both departments have major new facilities and mega research funding. UW has one of the largest life sciences programs in the US and one of the best.

<a href=“News – Department of Biochemistry – UW–Madison”>News – Department of Biochemistry – UW–Madison;

Since everyone is throwing their school’s name into the hat, might as well add the best:

[UC Berkeley, College of Chemistry](http://chemistry.berkeley.edu/)

Only the good ones. You won’t see me boosting UW on the musical theater pages.

Barrons, no complaints from me, your suggstion is a fantastic one, as always.
