i have a 94 weighted gpa, have a 580 writing, 600 math, 610 reading on SAT, and i am 30/261 in my class. I am a senior and am planning on studying biology in pursuit of becoming a doctor. What is a good college, not the ivies, that you think would be good for me, and will provide the best education, and prepare me the most for medical school/MCAT. Thanks

any good school is fine. Med schools don’t care where you went to undergrad.

Colleges do NOT provide you for the MCAT, nor med school.

What state are you in?

How much will your parents pay each year? You have a 1210 M+CR

my parents dont really mind, i guess under 60,000 a year, and i live in new jersey

Rutgers is fabulous in life sciences, and you should get in with your stats. You can save up some money for med. school if you remain in-state. Do you want smaller colleges? Then, look into some of the Colleges That Change Lives, like Goucher, Eckerd, Rhodes, New College of FL, et al. They will all prepare you for medical school. Almost every 4-year college in the country will, for that matter. If you want to remain in mid-Atlantic area, but don’t want to go to Rutgers, look at Dickinson, Fordham, Drew, even St. Mary’s (on Eastern Shore in MD). Temple would be a good match for you, if you are willing to consider it.

Look at Boston University. They have a good biology program, and generally BU is rigorous academically–will certainly prepare you for med school in that respect. Your stats are right in line that it would be a match/low reach for you (SAT is on the low end but your GPA/class rank is good). It’s 54K a year including room & board. I can answer any questions you have about BU, if you like.
