Great Grades and Test Scores; Few EC's and Leadership; Can I Get Into Stanford.

I’ll start by listing my dismal EC’s and Leadership

  • Soccer - 3 years - Varsity - Was Captain on JV
  • Sailing - 2 years - Always JV
  • Choir - 3 years - I guess you could call it Varsity
  • Club Soccer
  • Climbing Club
  • Volleyball Club
  • That's Pretty Much It

I know they’re bad (The EC’s), but here are my Grades/Scores

ACT - 35
SAT - 1550

Subject Tests

Math II - 800
Chemistry - 800
Physics - 790

GPA - 4.0 - Weighted I think - My freshman year really dragged it down, but i’ve been near perfect since.

AP’s

AP US - 4
AP CHEM - 5
AP GOV - 4
AP LANG - 4
AP GERMAN IV - N/A*
AP PHYSICS C - N/A
AP LIT - N/A
AP BIO - N/A
AP CALC BC - N/A

*N/A = I’m taking it this year

I’m pretty sure my letters of Rec and Essays will be good BTW.

Stanford is my dream school, but I feel like everyone there has done student council, led countless clubs, and been involved in all kinds of important EC’s. I feel like my application has a big chunk missing out of it, and that I stand no shot at Stanford. Is there any chance I’ll be accepted?

Yea you def have great scores haha but like you realize, your EC are below average. Also, I don’t know what other clubs/organizations/awards you did/won since you only listed sports teams/clubs. Unless you have done significant in the EC you listed/or are preparing to get recruited as an athlete, I think there is a slim chance in getting in. I think you still have room to genuinely show your personality in the essays. Good luck!

With the grades, you’re pretty standard for a Stanford applicant. You have good grades and generic, low EC’s. so your main goal should be to come across like you’re still a unique individual who cares about more than just grades (via essay, rec letters)
But you definitely don’t have a chance unless you apply- good luck!
