I just got rejected from UCSC... does that mean I'll get rejected from UCD and UCI?
3.1 GPA and 1760 SAT
+tons of extracurriculars (dance, clubs, job experience, awards)
- State qual finalist x2
- Ballet 10 years
- Piano 8 years
- Tap 7 years
- Jazz 7 years
- and etc.
+dad died when I was 8, I had to take care of my sister because mother was always out
+asian (.... not very competitve stats for an asian)

I got into UCR and UCM... will I have a chance at UCD or UCI??

Wow…the gpa and sat scores are a bit too low but…

Have you performed in any major events/concerts?
My friend who already graduated last year plays the cello and is in the national orchestra…and played at carnegie hall…
but had like a 3.2 gpa and got into Yale…

They are both big reaches…and unless you’re exceptionally talented…it’s a no.

Do you live in California? That might make a difference.

Well, I commeted on your other post, and Ill say it again here. UCI and UCD are both reaches. UCSC I honestly thought you had a good shot at, but… im not an admissions person. Try not to think that UCI/D will reject you becuase of UCSC’s rejection. Keep a positive attitude, and dont feel bad.
Good luck.

And really, dont worry about it; it is beyond your control now, dont lose sleep over it.

thanks navyfield… but I don’t think UCI or UCD would accept somebody with such low stats… ):
do you think appealing to UCD would help? I want to go to UCD because it’s close to FBi training center and forensics center and right now i am interning at my local police station

and for uci… well i’ve danced for awhile. lol

It’s your GPA, it made you just barely UC eligible but your SAT’s not bad. I wouldn’t say that just because SC rejected you automatically means UCD and UCI won’t take you. I know someone who got into LA but not SD and my other friend got into SD but not LA…so i mean you really can’t just assume one rejection means you’re getting another one by default. and remember you can always transfer. like navyfield said don’t lose sleep over it, there’s nothing you can do about it right now.

I know… but the percentage of a person between 3.0 and 3.24 of going to UCD is 5%… ~2000 people. And apparently people with low 3.0s have high high sats. (1900-2100)

hey at least you were allowed to apply at UCM and UCR and states. for me, I was only allowed to apply to ucsc ucd ucsb ucla and I already got rejected from ucsc. 3.19 gpa 1740 sats. If I don’t get in anywhere it’s community college for me. I’ll pray for you, you pray for me. I hope we BOTH get into Davis (and SB)

Me too! I’ll pray for you as hard as I can Nicolette! Maybe if we go to one of those UCs we can be friends! :P

this…is so stupid. I think that UCSC mostly accepted people that really WOULDN’T go to UCSC, if you know what I mean, lol.

UGH. No offense, but people who go to UCR have like 1300 SAT scores… I don’t want to spend my college experience around those types of people. TT______TT

UC’s make decisions largely based on stats, which means your verdicts across the UC system will likely be similar. Of course, each college has certain quirks, so you may stand out to one in ways you didn’t to another. Do you have safeties?

I think you have a chance, it depends on all aspects of your application. Plus a compelling essay can make up for low scores (in some cases) Good luck to you tho : )

Yeah I know, it sucks cause I personally know people with worse GPA’s and SAT’s than I do who got in… it’s SO frustrating. I would totally go there if I was accepted unlike 75% of those who applied there as a safety school… just wish they knew that. I don’t think that’s what they wanna hear in the appeal letter. “Hey guys, 75% of people think of you guys as a safety and would never go to your school… BUT I WOULD!!” -__-
I NEED to go away to college too cause it’s either a UC or I’m out and on my own.
I hope we both get in!
