great.......................life sucks.

TT life sucks… UCI was my dream school… TT_______TT

davis comes out around the 22nd of March? Same date as SB. I think…

btw, if I don’t get any response from Irvine yet… does that mean I’m rejected??

Okay, so for my appeal… these are some things that have happened to me… don’t know if they would help for appeal or not so I’ll just list them

-older stepsister goes to UC Davis on a scholarship (straight As throughout high school and 2260 SAT)

 • depression (biggest factor to my low grades)
 • I got a cheating file because of a silly mistake that could have been prevented
 • I was almost always late to 1st period junior year because the classroom is on the other side of the school and I arrive barely on time, we have 4 kids to take to school and there is heavy traffic and we leave 20 minutes before the bell rings…= I got AIM
 • Internship at brain injury clinic
 • volunteering at the local museum

… not good reasons… huh…):

No, UCI is probably still processing your application. I heard they send out letters by decending GPA, so you may be towards the end of the month.

“I NEED to go away to college too cause it’s either a UC or I’m out and on my own.
I hope we both get in!”

Nicolette and lesportsac, I just want to let you know Im rooting for both of you. Good luck.

@ OP: I would recommend that if you really want UCD or UCI and you don’t get in (in general or through appeal) - going to a community college. You can get guaranteed admission to UCD with a 3.0. Yes, as in 100% in with a 3.0 and prereqs for your major done. You’d have to stick it out for 2 years, but then you’d get to transfer to where you really want to be, instead of settling for safeties that you’re “okay” with. Not to mention that you’d save a boatload of money.

I failed out of high school, and now I’m 18 about to transfer as a junior to UCB, UCLA, or UCD (I have guaranteed acceptance through TAG). I’m telling ya man, CC is a really great system if you take advantage of it. Saved me. If you want to get to where you want to be for undergrad, sometimes you gotta make sacrifices.

Go with what feels right.

i see emilsinclair9… but my mom wants me to get the college experience by living in the dorms… she says that by junior year, you would have already established some strong friendships, if you know what i mean. I would take the cc route, but i’m not allowed to. o.O

Ahh I see. Well if that’s the case, then yeah I guess you should aim for college right away, and then figure out where you want to go pending on where you get in.

You can still establish friendships, sexual relationships, bf/gf, w.e. at the junior level and also live in the dorms, but it’s true, it may be a slight disadvantage being new and knowing that many people already have a social network and/or group of friends.

Anyway, I wish ya the best! I’m sure that wherever you end up, you’ll be really happy. I hope you get into the schools you want too.

don’t worry about UCI, some of my friends didn’t get their letters get either,

one of my friends didn’t get theirs from UCR!

still no news from UCI… WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??

Hey, i got my UCI rejection today with 3.6 W GPA and 1790 SAT. Totally expected it though, i honestly would’ve been surprised if i got in so it didn’t sting too much lol. if you still haven’t heard from them try not to stress out too much, even if you don’t get in you’ve got other schools to choose from.

ugh my god… so depressed now

i did too… any chance for an appeal?

any chance with davis… you think?

:( life does suck sometimes, but don’t be discouraged just because of one rejection! i feel like the UCs decisions this year are really random -___-
i think you have a shot at davis,
my friend got into UCSD and got rejected from UCI, so its really random…
im waitlisted for ucsd, and if i dont get in my parents are probably gonna force me to go to UCI or UCD, so i’ll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope to maybe see you there!

if you really feel like you should appeal and you truly feel like they made a mistake then you should just go for it, it doesn’t hurt to try,
my friend got rejected from all the UCs she wanted to go to, but she knew in her heart she had to go to berkeley and she got a teacher to help her appeal and she got in,
so make sure you have good recomendation letters, getting a teacher to help is a good thing,
and on twitter UCD said it will be coming out the evening of the 23,
im seriously hoping for you, the UC system is really random and , for lack of a better word, plain stupid this year, in my opinion…

The stats are low, so I would say it depends on how you present yourself and your responsibility of taking care of your sister. Plus you’re asain, which doesn’t help much.

If I’m assuming one essay was on one of your ECs and the other on taking care of your sister I would ask this.

Did you come off as whiny/complaining? (just saying you had to do all this because of this and omg, life is so hard) or did you make it a asset?
Were you too obvious? (Practice takes up so much time, I’m always exhausted) or did you hint at it subtly?
Was your essay written well? (Just style, and phrasing. It’s not major, but it always helps if you can write well)

Classes:

AP classes/Honors or regular? it matters.

I’d say they’re reaches.
