Great Movies

My favorite movie of all time would have to be field of dreams. Every time I hear the Iowa corn fields whispering “If you build it, they will come” it gives me chills. Then again I am a baseball freak, so you can’t expect an objective opinion. But a movie that combines baseball, fantasy, literature, and philosophy all into one magnificent package has to be one of the best ever created.

"no thanks. Doesn't look that good."

Merely curious... why does it not look good? If you enjoy Philosophy, trust me, you should enjoy this movie. Or perhaps you are one of those people that say they enjoy philosophy, but are not intelligent enough to handle complex ideas... I don't know...

Hubris indeed... /rimshot

yeah, good job picking a suitable sn.
You must be pretty darn special if you can determine what a person should and should not enjoy, based on one of their interests.
Tell me matt, what breakfast cereals does some one who truly enjoys philosophy prefer?

gambadent: I'm not intelligent enough for Matt-Hubris, so I merely subsist on the base enjoyment of Multi-Grain Cheerios :(

Well, I've given the perfect "10" to 16 movies on IMDB. However, I will spare anyone the boredom of reading that list and name only movies not already mentioned in the thread:

Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy (350 minutes of spy-filled fun)
City of God
La Haine (Hate)
Hoop Dreams
Kontroll
Run Lola Run
400 Blows
The Wages of Fear
The Empire Strikes Back
Traffic

Looking back I'm not sure if The Wages of Fear and The Empire Strikes Back deserved 10s, but I try to vote the same day or soon after so that the "impression" is still in my mind. Oh well.

To be fair, I asked a question ("why does it not look good?") and I only said "perhaps" he was not intelligent.

It varies as to what someone who truly enjoys philosophy prefers for breakfast, whether it be cereal or not.
Nietzsche fan? -coffee and one of those on-the-go cereal bars.
John Stuart Mill fan? -eggs, toast, bacon, pancakes, hashbrown, orange juice... the whole shabang.
Sartre fan? -something a little French girl would eat. Maybe toast and jelly...
Kant fan? -Corn Flakes at exactly 6:00 am every morning after going for walk, which takes precisely 10 minutes. If there's too much milk, the maid will have to sit through a 2 hour critique.
Descartes fan? -Questions whether a magical demon drempt his cereal. A few hours after useless contemplation he eats it for lunch.
... the list goes on.

That is so funny. I read that his neighbors would set their clocks to Kant's daily routine. :p

alright Hubris, you have officially redeemed yourself in my eyes. Although, I've always thought of Kant as a porridge man, myself

personally, my fave movie of all time is glitter with queen kong, mariah carey. she's my idol...luv ya girl!

I find that the Disney Channel original movie, Brink!, tickles my pastry........or is good.

Oh, fantastic....I have 300 posts now

can anyone tell me if I've gotten cooler?

You have 301 posts. At 300 posts you were still pretty pathetic, but at 301 you are officially cool. Celebrate, my friend, a moment like this comes once in a lifetime.

A moment like this... Some people wait a lifetime...

that is until 1,000

Then I think I become orgasmically cool

my pre-300 aforementioned pathetic self will have been completey forgotten.

"A moment like this... Some people wait a lifetime..."
dam, I love that clay aiken.

I thought it was Kelly Clarkson who sang that song. I didn't know Clay Aiken sounded that much like a female and wore a red dress in his music videos...unless i'm going blind.

ooh, like there's any difference

Well, maybe not, but I like to think there is between a skinny white guy and a chubby white girl (not chubby, well-endowed)

well-endowed?

"My... young lass, you're certainly well-endowed."

Quite the pick-up, Si.
