Great News, A Thank You, And A Question.

Some of you may remember me from the few times I’ve posted asking for help. I’m the girl who left Wooster because of family/personal problems, and was thinking of community college.

I just wanted to thank all of the parents who have given me advice over the past couple of months. I’ve learned a lot from your responses to my and other friends. It is very nice to have access to such kind and knowledgeable adults.

The fruits of my labor (with the help of your advice) have paid off. With your encouragement I decided to apply to some four-year schools in addition to the two-year schools I was already planning to apply to. Here are my results, in order of preference. (I’m still waiting to hear from one school: The College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor, ME).

1.The University of Maine Honor’s College- Orono, ME (Just found out about this one today and I'm SO excited!)
2.Point Park University
3.La Roche College
4.Holy Cross College
5.Garret Community College
6.Allegany College of Maryland
7.The University of Alaska-Fairbanks
8.College of the Redwoods
9.Central Wyoming College

If I am accepted to COA it will probably be tied for the number one position.

Thank you all for helping me to reach my goals.

I do, however, have another question for all of you. I was wondering if any of you have any knowledge or experience with The University of Maine and/or their honor’s college? The only things I know are the things that I have read on their website. I haven’t heard any first hand accounts. Any information you have would be helpful.

Once again, thank you all for your help.

Amy

I don't have information to share but I want to congratulate you on all these acceptances. Great news, and thanks for updating.

Wee hee! I bet you feel FANTASTIC!!!??

Don't know specifics about Maine, but do know a number of 'Honors College' grads who loved their experiences.

I'm with Marite: I'm afraid that I have no information to share but congratulations anyway.

I was on the College of the Atlantic's campus while visiting its oceanography museum one summer. From what I recall, it's a pretty small campus, area-wise, but Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are right "next door." It will get cold there during the winter, but the scenery and location are spectacular.

Congratulations on your acceptances and good luck!
