What Schools are known for political science and would be some good matches and safeties for a kid with a 4.3 GPA applying test optional (has a 28 ACT)?
Wesleyan, American U… GWU… Actually, quite a few schools will be test-optional for Fall 2021. How much financial aid will they need?
Ohio State, Florida State, and Umass Amherst are great options as well.
assuming you are interested in poli sci because you want to go into politics and/or gov’t work then there are 2 types of schools that would be strong. The first, as you can imagine, are the top-ranked schools. They have many ties to politics and gov’t, and those on the inside are willing to help undergrads find internships and entry level jobs. The second are colleges located near centers of power. With many page/internship positions to fill its easier to hire someone that’s already there than scout out a kid from a similar college out of town.
Political science is also a popular major for lawyers. In the case, you do want be a lawyer, don’t limit yourself to political science/ legal studies etc. No law school requires you to major in it. My sat tutor was studying Art History with a minor in French studies on a full ride at NYU. She is applying to Law school right now.
